The Misbourne 5K Trail Race - Saturday 1 July 2017

Overview

The Misbourne 5k Trail Race comprises an undulating multi terrain approximately 5k course in the countryside and woods behind The Misbourne, five minutes from the A413.  The route mostly follows footpaths and bridleways with a very small section of road at the beginning and end of the course.  This year, it is intended to run the course in the opposite direction to help alleviate bottle necks at stiles and gates.  The race finishes on the school playing field.  It includes some ascents and descents.  It is being run under UK Athletics rules and in line with the Trail Association health and safety recommendations.

All profits raised from the race will be donated to The Misbourne Campaign Fund for new sports facilities.  

The success of the event is entirely reliant on the active support of parents and staff of The Misbourne, particularly on the actual race day when many marshals are required out on the course to meet the requirements of the UK Athletics/TRA rules.  Your support to the volunteers in this, our second year would be greatly appreciated.

On The Day

Parking:

There is limited on-site parking at the school site.   If you are local then we would encourage you to walk to the event. Alternatively, public car parking is available at the Buryfield Car Park in the town or at the station car park.   Both have parking fees so please remember change. If possible, please car share too.

Race Timings:

9.30am - Registration opens

9.30-10.30am - On the Day Registration

10.40am- Race Briefing

11.00am -  Race Start

12.30pm-  Prize Giving

The Course:

Click here to view the course.   Please note that there is a little bit of road at the beginning and end of the race.  Also some fairly narrow paths and a few gates.  Marshals are not allowed to stop cars.  In the event that a car is on the road as runners approach then the marshals will stop the runners until it safe for them to cross.  Marshals will be managing the gates too but only one runner will be able to pass through at a time.

Refreshments:

There are no water stations on the course.  However each runner will be given a free bottle of water donated by SPAR Great Kingshill at the finish plus a piece of fruit.   There will be plenty of other refreshments on site too including teas/coffees and cakes.

All finishers will receive a unique medal. Trophies will be awarded as follows:

“2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded if sufficient numbers run in prize category. 

Please note that only one prize will be given per person so if for example a Vet 40 Man wins the whole race then he will receive first prize and the next Vet 40 runner will receive 1st place in the Vet 40 category.

Please note that there will be an official photographer taking photos of all runners.  Photographs will be available for purchase at the school following the race.

If you wish to take your own photographs then you will need to register at the Registration tent on the day.
