Free School Meals

Free School Meals Eligibility Check

The process for parents to establish whether or not they are eligible was time consuming and required a great deal of form filling.  However, since September 2010 the process has become much simpler and we can assess an entitlement check very quickly through the Local Authority by providing your National Insurance Number and date of birth.

Meals are provided free of charge to students whose parents are in receipt of:

  • Income Support (IS)
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance (JSA(IB))
  • An Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit (CTC), except if you meet any of the following criteria Entitled to Working Tax Credit (regardless of income) or have an annual income in excess of £16,190 (please note that this figure is for April 2011 and that it changes in April each year)
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit (GE)

Please be aware that if you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit you will not be able to benefit from free school meals.

If you think that you may be eligible please contact Ms L Szczerbowskaon 01494 862869 or email Mrs Miller:
