Higher Education Information Evening

On Wednesday 14 June 2017, the Misbourne hosted a Higher Education and Apprenticeships Information Evening. Parents and students from Year 12 heard presentations from Karen Auld of Brunel University London and Kim Martin from apprenticeships information provider, Education and Employment.  We were also joined by former students Eve Mitterhuber, William Hadden and Emily Green who reflected on their first years at the universities of Plymouth Marjon, Bath Spa and Brighton.  Members of the Sixth Form team including Mr Dwight, Mrs Cook and Mrs Hill also updated the audience on the school programme of support for university applications and careers.

Topics covered included: Why should you consider going to university?   Or taking an apprenticeship?

  • How much does it now cost to go to university?
  • How do you go about researching and visiting universities?
  • Are students allowed time off school to visit university open days?
  • What is a UCAS application and when is it completed? What makes a good personal statement?
