Media is an immense part of our everyday lives; it overwhelms us and affects our perceptions, ideals and behaviour.  At A level (Years 12 and 13), we offer the chance to dissect different sections of the Media industry: exploring concepts such as Postmodernism in film, TV and music videos; the representation of key social groups in TV drama; the magazine institution.  Alongside this runs the creative coursework element of creating a new music magazine at AS, to filming and editing a new music video/teaser trailer.  Students will not only develop analytical skills but also ICT skills, (learning how to use Indesign and a video editing programme.)

Students will complete one coursework portfolio and will have one examination in each year of study.

A Grade B at GCSE English Language or English Literature is needed in order to succeed on this course along with good time-management skills and being able to learn and work independently.
